Take time out for you and sleep better too (Part 1)
Sleep and rest, what crucial elements they are to our overall sense of well being and how quickly we suffer if we fail to pay attention to their importance.
The knock on effects of poor sleep can be fast and debilitating, mentally, physically and emotionally. Those of us who have suffered, will understand why sleep deprivation has been used as a method of torture!
So what is the answer, when we are feeling, stressed and low and our get up and go just got up and went?
There is a school of thought that suggests ‘whatever the problem, self care is the solution!’. This can be a controversial topic in its own right, since people often equate self care with selfishness and advocate looking after the needs of others before their own.
However, in all honesty, how well equipped are we to take care of others if we don’t truly understand how to take care of ourselves?
So what does self care mean? How might life change if we made regular, quality time for ourselves, as we might a family member or good friend, and listened to what we really need? If we pause long enough in our busy lives and intend to take care of ourselves, we may just hear a whisper of the action we need to take to restore our sense of well-being.
What is the most self caring thing you could do for yourself today?
