Just how healthy are your muscles and joints?
Answer our questions and find out if your flexibility is compromised.
Find out how flexible you areIt will really depend on what is causing this pain in the first place. Generally speaking, ice is best for relieving inflammation that is the result of a sprain, strain or a pulled muscle. Heat, on the other hand, is more useful when it comes to easing pain caused by arthritis or fibromyalgia, for example.
Ice slows down blood flow which helps to reduce the swelling, redness and inflammation. I’d recommend applying an ice pack wrapped in cloth every so often. Also, it is a good idea to keep the area raised when sitting down and, if you can, try some simple exercises like walking to avoid stiffness.
In addition, you may find it helpful to try Arnica Gel to ease inflammation and stiffness further.
If the problem gets worse, or does not improve after these home treatments, do make an appointment with your GP.
