The fact that your cycle has changed is a major indication that you are in perimenopause, which is the lead up to your last-ever period. During this time your levels of oestrogen fall, and this causes a loss of elasticity in muscle tissue and the fibres that hold your joints in place.
First thing to check is that you are drinking plenty of water, as this can lessen symptoms quite dramatically. (No one ever believes how effective this can be until they do it themselves and feel the benefits!)
Secondly, cut back on all caffeinated drinks and instead drink nettle tea or the A.Vogel Goldenrod and Knotgrass tea, as both of these are excellent for those finger pains.
Then try a course of Devil's Claw tincture or tablets, as Devil's Claw is a very effective anti-inflammatory that quells some of the pain.
Gentle stretching exercises are useful, so joining yoga or Pilates classes can be helpful, or having some 1-2-1 instruction from a yoga or Pilates teacher. If you start getting more menopause symptoms then we will have additional advice for you over on our Menopause hub, but try this programme first for the symptoms you're having now.
