There are actually a few things that can cause muscle cramps, particularly at night, so it may be that magnesium deficiency is not to blame in this case.
Anything from medication, activity levels, to simply getting older can trigger leg cramps. Obviously we cannot say for sure what exactly is at the root of the problem in this case so I would recommend visiting your doctor for further advice.
