One of the main things we can do to help our adrenal glands is to include nutrients in our diets and herbal/supplement regime that help support our nervous system.
These include B vitamins and Magnesium as well as Zinc and Vitamin C. You will find a list that shows food sources of vitamins here - http://www.health-alternatives.com/vitamins-nutrition-chart.html) which you may find helpful. You could also add these in supplement form please discuss recommendations with your local health store.
In terms of herbs, Passiflora Complex has been used traditionally to support the nervous system by easing stress and nervous tension. It takes up to a week to feel the effects and if you have not noticed an improvement after a month, then I suggest exploring an alternative.
Relaxing Essence may also be worth considering. This is a blend of flower essences which can balance emotions where feelings of pressure, anxiety or fear have been a problem.
Whilst herbs and supplements as well as dietary changes will of course provide beneficial support to our nervous system it is important to tackle stress holistically and make lifestyle choices that improve our wellbeing mentally and emotionally as well.
Good self care, in each of these areas is the best action we can take for our frequently over-worked adrenals!
