It could be that you are not getting into the deeper stages of sleep for long enough, and so are sleeping too lightly.
Extracts of valerian can help you get to sleep, but also stay in the deeper stages of sleep for longer so I would recommend trying our Valerian based remedy Dormeasan®, before bed.
It could also be related to your diet or lifestyle - I would watch how much sugar/caffeine you consume, particularly later in the day, and also it could be caused by eating too late in the evening, or eating particularly hard to digest food for dinner.
The liver, the adrenal glands and blood sugar control are also culprits behind repeated waking at 3am. I recently wrote a blog about why these can cause you to wake up and what you can do to help yourself. You can read it here: http://www.avogel.co.uk/health/sleep/blog/waking-at-3am/
I hope this helps,
Amy
