Spots can appear for a number of reasons, from hormonal imbalances to your diet. If spots are a persisting problem for you, I’d recommend taking a look at your diet first and foremost.
Refined sugars and processed fats are major triggers for spots as they encourage inflammation and may cause your blood sugar levels to spike which in turn can stimulate your sebaceous glands into producing more oil. Even if you feel as though your diet is relatively healthy, it’s always worth being a bit more label savvy as these two pesky food groups can often work their way even into even the most unexpected food products.
Next, try to address the cosmetics that you use. Many high-street skincare products are loaded with parabens and other nasty chemicals that can irritate your skin so sometimes it really pays to go au naturale with your skincare regime.
That’s why I’d really recommend investing in a high-quality cleanser and toner – you can find tons of natural brands here at Jan de Vries. Also try to bear in mind that most cosmetic and skincare products will have their own expiration dates so perhaps set aside time to clean out your make-up bag.
When it comes to a moisturiser, I’d recommend our Echinacea Cream, which is specifically indicated for spot-prone skin and contains natural antibacterial properties.
I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions.
Best wishes,
Felicity
