Can Stinging Nettle help ease itchy skin
Nettles are well known for causing an itchy rash on the skin but did you know that eating nettles can help that exact symptom? Nettle, when eaten, drunk as a tea, or taken as herbal drops (what herbalists call a tincture) is a natural antihistamine. You may have heard me talk about how great it is for hayfever earlier this year, but it is also great for any sort of itchy skin.
Itchy Skin
Itchy skin, or this sort of sensation of having something crawling on or under your skin is a really common symptom in menopause as we have these oestrogen receptors in our skin and when oestrogen drops the skin can become dry and itchy. I find nettle to be really brilliant for any skin conditions that come up in menopause.
But nettle can also help those with itchy skin due to eczema or other skin conditions, bites and stings, and even to ease nettle stings themselves! It is helps to reduce redness and inflammation in skin as well as the itching.
Give it a try!
If this is a symptom you are dealing with nettle can help, give it a try! But, of course, lifestyle and both dietary and environmental factors can be big contributors to skin issues as well, so please do send me a message any time if you need more support!
