Irregular periods are a common side effect of the contraceptive implant. Irregular periods can last as long as the first year after insertion, but after this time, in most cases, they start to settle as your body adapts to the changing hormones. In some cases after this time your periods can stop altogether.
My advice is, please don’t stress. With any luck over the next few months things will start to calm down. However, please make sure you return to your doctor at any time if you find this method and the associated side effects just isn’t for you and they can discuss some other options with you.
Kind regards,
Emma
