For women on the mini-pill, or progesterone based pills, irregular bleeding can be a common side effect, particularly in the first few months of starting this type of pill. Often over time this calms down and you’ll find you won’t have a period at all as your body adjusts to the hormones.
Taking the pill at the same time each day is essential in order to help prevent any side effects and to protect you against pregnancy.
If your symptoms persist over the next few months it may be worth discussing your chosen method of contraception with your doctor to see what the other options are.
Best wishes,
Emma
