Your period can arrive late for a number of reasons; this could be the result of a hormone imbalance, stress, a recent change in your body weight or body fat percentage, your age (for example in women approaching the perimenopause, irregular periods are common), different medications. In rarer cases, this could also be the result of an underlying condition affecting the womb such as PCOS, or some other type of condition, such as a thyroid disorder for example.
From what you've told me, it sounds like stress could be a factor here, but the fact you are experiencing some cramps and headaches suggests that your hormones are fluctuating, which means your period could arrive soon. Try and relax for now as there’s no need to worry just yet.
I often say to wait for another few weeks and if your period still doesn't arrive, or you are worried, you should see your doctor.
Best wishes,
Emma
