My Perimenopause Story – Low Energy & Fatigue

I have been guilty in the past of overthinking fatigue, catastrophising like this is this, I'm getting old. I'm never going to feel normal again! But I’ve learned some simple things that can help.

Being tried is rotten. Last year I was really wiped to the point where I had to go to the GP. She took a blood test and the results showed my iron stores were low. My energy did return after a course of iron supplements, but I also tweaked my diet to include more protein-rich foods.

I'm also finding that I need to watch my blood sugar levels. In perimenopause, sugar cravings have intensified, especially when I'm tired. I feel better and less tired when I regulate eating, exercise and sleeping. So, I try and eat healthy meals with enough protein like eggs for breakfast, a lunch that isn't all bread, and proper home-cooked dinners.

I use Balance Perimenopause (a multi-nutrient supplement) as a magnesium/electrolyte pick-me-up, too.
