Can perimenopause and menopause make you burn more easily in the sun? Yes, it certainly can.

You can become much more reactive to the sun in perimenopause and menopause. You might find you’re burning a lot quicker. You just don't tan as well as you did. And, you may find that you're more prone to sun damage, such as sunspots

Thinning skin and less melanin production are the main causes of these sun-related issues in perimenopause and menopause.

What can help?

So, what I suggest is to use natural sunscreens if you can; ones that are suitable for sensitive skin. And, maybe go up a factor or two than what you're used to. But, just make sure that you spend a little bit of time in the sun first to top up your vitamin D.
