Can the perimenopause and menopause cause high blood pressure? Yes, this, believe it or not, is a really common symptom during menopause and perimenopause, but because they are very few symptoms most women don't realise they're actually suffering from it.

So, the important thing here is prevention! Keep your salt and (saturated) fat intake down, and go for heart-healthy foods such as nuts and seeds, whole grains, small amount of healthy fats, and plenty of those fresh vegetables and fruits.

It's really important to get your blood pressure checked regularly, once every 6 months is fine. You don't need to do it every week, and most pharmacies will be quite happy to take your blood pressure if you ask them.
