60 seconds in menopause video transcript:
Are heart palpitations common in the perimenopause and menopause? Yes, they certainly are! This is such a common symptom and many women will experience this at some point along the journey, either just for a brief phase or for some it might be quite a long time.
The main reason is the changing hormones can affect the nervous system causing stress, which leads to palpitations. But it can be other really simple things like low blood sugar levels, dehydration, poor sleep and fatigue.
So, the things to remember here is: Loads of water, make sure you drink that litre and a half a day, eat little and often to keep your blood sugar levels stable, and try and get that rest and good sleep.
But, if you're getting these on a daily basis, it's really important to check with your doctor just in case they are not related to hormonal changes.
