Causes of headaches during menopause

I'm getting lots of headaches during menopause. Is this a common symptom?

Yes, it certainly is. A lot of women can experience this at some time during perimenopause and menopause. You may find you get them a lot more frequently than normal or suddenly they've just appeared from nowhere. Very often it's just due to the way your hormones are changing and things will ease off.

What else could cause them?

They can also be caused by dehydration. So, remember to drink plenty of water. You may experience a quick headache if your blood sugar levels drop too low, so eat little and often. You can also get them due to fatigue. Also, things like coffee, tea, and fizzy drinks can trigger a headache. So just be aware of that.

One thing, though, is if your headaches are persistent and if you need to take continual painkillers to ease them, please see your doctor.
