Are brittle nails a symptom of the perimenopause and menopause? Yes, they certainly are. This is a really common symptom. If you think about it, all the hormonal changes that are going on take up a huge amount of energy. So, your nutritional needs go sky-high!

We see our hair and nails as being really important to how we feel and how we look. But, from our body's point of view, they are the last on the list to get nutrition. So, if your nails are starting to break or flake, then it very often means that you're low in certain nutrients.

So, check your diet, and make sure you're getting enough protein and enough of some specific nutrients - vitamin D, B vitamins and silica - for healthy nail growth. And, just remember the water, too, because dehydration can be a factor.
