Anxiety is one of the common symptoms of the menopause or post menopause. However, it may indicate that your blood sugar levels are very low, and, some women do notice that the anxiety symptoms are much worse in the mornings.
You may find taking a magnesium supplement with your evening meal can help too, as magnesium is needed for mood, relaxation and sleep. If you are not on any hormonal contraceptives, then you can try something like our Menopause Support tablets as well, which also contain magnesium to help support your nervous system*.
You can also try soothing herbs such as Passiflora (Passion flower) Valerian, Lemon Balm and Avena sativa.
I recommend our Passiflora Complex Tablets which also contain magnesium to support the nervous system in times of need*. If you need some on-the-go support then try our handy Passiflora Complex Spray.
Try having a good snack before bed, not a sugary one. Eat more foods that are high in protein, such as nuts and seeds, or a plain yoghurt or oatcake and cheese.
Dehydration can also be a culprit, so make sure that you are drinking plenty of plain water every day and try to avoid caffeinated drinks such a tea, coffee, and fizzy drinks, especially in the evening, as they can disrupt your nervous system.
General daily life stress can, unfortunately, make anxiety worse, so if this is you then dealing with the stress may actually help your menopause symptoms.
Studies have shown that daily relaxation can reduce symptoms really quickly so do make this a priority: 30 minutes 'me-time' a day can work wonders!
