background

I am 49 years old and my periods have been regular, lasting 5 days maximum. This month my period was late and I have been bleeding now for 10 days. Sometimes, going on the toilet, there is no blood and I think that maybe it is finished but then 4 hours later there is lots of bright red blood and some small clots. The blood seems to smell. Is this normal?

You won’t get the menopause the minute you turn 50! The average starting age is actually between 45 and 55 and it can often depend on a number of factors including hereditary, weight and health, however every single woman will have an individual menopause.
