The answer could actually be both! The start of the menopause often triggers the thyroid into imbalance, and as yours is probably more vulnerable than most, it could easily be knocked out of kilter. The symptoms reflect low oestrogen but equally could be hyperthyroid - you need to check with the doctor to find out which it is. Acupuncture may help, by the way, as it can balance the whole endocrine system, both thyroid and sex hormones, but you will need a diagnosis from the doctor first.
