Yes, this can happen and there could be several reasons.
Falling oestrogen can affect the vagina walls making them weaker and slacker and doing exercises, walking, or even sitting could trap air which would then be released with a noise.
Also, falling oestrogen can also affect the balance of friendly bacteria in the vagina. If this balance changes too much 'bad bacteria' can produce gasses which may also smell.
You may find doing the Kegel Exercises, (just Google for instructions on how to do), every day strengthens the vagina and if you are experiencing a different smell, you may find a probiotic helpful. A company called Optibac do one specially for the vagina.
