Sage

Sage has become one of the most popular menopause treatments, gaining a reputation as a simple way of helping deal with excessive sweating, hot flushes and night sweats during menopause. But recent research has also found that it eases brain fog and anxiety by calming brain waves. (1)

Hot flushes are experienced by up to 88% of women going through menopause (2) and have a considerable impact on quality of life, including sleep disturbances. (3) For many women these can go on for up to ten years! (4)

Sage works to rebalance sweat regulation, which is how it can resolve menopausal sweats and hot flushes. While sage does not have a hormonal action like other herbs used in menopause, it can have a broad action due to its primary effect, balancing temperature and sweating. Hot flushes and night sweats can cause other symptoms, such as poor sleep, fatigue, loss of confidence, etc. Resolving the flushes and sweats may therefore solve other problems too, along with its brain wave balancing effects.
