Any persistent cough can strain the muscles in your chest wall and this could be one reason for the pain you describe on your ‘inner chest’. Other causes of this type of pain could be inflammation caused by infection or scarring.
In any case, the best advice I can give you at this stage is for you to seek help from your doctor in order to identify the cause of your cough.
If you have already done so but without any success, you might wish to get a second opinion. The reason is that there are serious causes of persistent coughs that we must rule out before assuming that it is a minor health problem – and it is only your doctors that can help you with this.
One we have worked out the cause of your cough we will be able to start considering how best to eradicate it.
I am sorry that I cannot be of more help to you at this point in time.
Please let me know how you get on.
