When suffering from hayfever the immune system releases histamine in order to get rid of pollen. However, this results in inflammation which, as well as being uncomfortable, makes the skin more sensitive than normal. Therefore when pollen, and other things like creams and sprays, land on the skin it makes the area itchy. This may, in turn, lead to broken skin and redness.

Whilst the pollen counts are high make sure you are keeping up your regular dose of antihistamines. In order to address the problem of itchy skin i'd also recommend using our gentle neem cream. This helps to soothe irritation and redness on the skin. It can also help to keep the skin cool - use damp cloths and luke warm showers to do this.
Also, to avoid making the problem worse, do not use any chemical based products on your skin such as shower gels and bubble bath.
