If you are short on sleep then it is quite difficult to persuade your eyes to feel anything other than tired. Whilst you plan how to catch up on your snooze time, allow your eyes to rest whenever possible.
Palming your eyes can help – warm your palms lightly by rubbing them together and then place them over your eyes and hold them there gently for a moment or two.
Resting with cotton pads soaked in (cooled) chamomile tea covering your eyes can improve how your eyes feel.
You could also use A.Vogel Eye Drops to relieve dryness and irritation. These contain Euphrasia and hyaluronic acid which can soothe tired, irritated eyes. They are also safe to use alongside contact lenses, unlike many conventional eye drops.
