An introduction to eye problems

The eyes are delicate organs that can face a number of problems.

By ‘problems’ I mean anything that affects the eyes that is not a medically diagnosed condition. These eye problems, in fact, are often symptoms of eye conditions.

Examples of eye problems include: dry eyes, itchy eyes, watery eyes, puffy eyes, eye discharge, eye floaters, eye twitches, red/bloodshot eyes, tired eyes and blurry vision.

What are the causes of eye problems?

Eye problems have a huge range of causes, depending on the specific problem. Head to our individual eye problem pages on the right hand side for some more detailed information.

Eye problems can generally be caused by:

  • An eye condition
  • A foreign body in the eye
  • Being overworked
  • Environmental factors such as weather, wind or pollution
  • Lifestyle factors such as your job or hobbies

Treatment for eye problems

The treatment of eye problems really depends on the problem, and what the root cause is. You’ll find some conventional treatment and self-help advice for eye problems and eye conditions throughout A.Vogel Talks Eye Health.

Many eye problems can be treated using Euphrasia, a herb that has traditionally been used for eye health, earning its alternative name, Eyebright. This is particularly usedul for dry, tired and itchy eyes as it helps lubricate and cleanse the eye. I recommend using Euphrasia eye drops.

In addition, the A.Vogel vision complex is a great supplement for general eye health. It contains many of the vital nutrients needed for healthy eyes such as lutein, zeaxanthin, zinc and beta-carotene.
