Check nowThe diagnosis for an enlarged prostate is mainly based on assessing the clinical picture (symptoms) as well as a rectal examination.
In addition, your doctor may want to do a blood test called the PSA or Prostate Specific Antigen which will help to rule out the possibility of prostate cancer.
Once your GP has confirmed an enlarged prostate, they will be able to recommend a number of treatments. In some cases no treatment is necessary, and you will instead keep an eye on your symptoms and return if they worsen. In some cases the doctor may recommend medication, surgery or herbal remedies.
