Why does my allergy bring me out in a rash?

For many people their allergic rhinitis brings them out in a rash. When someone with this condition, comes into contact with an allergen, the immune system releases histamine in order to get rid of it. However, this results in inflammation which, as well as being uncomfortable, makes the skin more sensitive than normal. 

Therefore when the allergen, and other things like creams and sprays, land on the skin it makes the area itchy. This may, in turn, lead to broken skin and redness – the key signs of a rash. However, the problem is usually accompanied by other issues like congestion, sneezing, a runny nose and watery eyes too.
