If your symptoms only emerge at night, it is probably to do with the environment in which you are sleeping. Have you recently re-decorated or moved? Do you keep pets in the room?
Paint or animal dander can cause irritation but, because it’s only at night that you spend a significant period of time in your room, this is when symptoms emerge.
If these things don’t apply to you then there are few other things to consider. The problem may be to do with a dust mite allergy for example, as these minuscule creatures love warm, humid areas like pillows, duvets and mattresses. Most people don’t know dust mites are there but if you have an allergy, they can be problematic.
So, to lessen the effects of these, or to rule them out as the cause, make sure you are changing your bed regularly (once a week is ideal) and give your bedding a good shake before and after you sleep. Also, hovering your mattress and pillows helps get rid of dust mites too.
