We can expect a runny nose to arise as a result of a sensitivity to one or more of several allergens, including pollen, animal dander, mould and dust.
If your symptoms get worse at home, it would seem to suggest that's where the issue lies so things to consider are:
- Damp and warm, bathrooms can harbour mould and spores – check shower curtains, window seals, and the backs of cupboards and shelving units.
- Move furniture regularly to check mould isn't creeping up on you from the back of wardrobes or behind bed heads.
- Wash bedding regularly on a high temperature to counter dust mites.
- Clear up regularly - mouldy snacks and coffee cup scum may add to your allergen load.
- Clean down the back of sofa cushions and regularly launder rugs and cushion covers. If you have pets, you may need to limit their access to areas with carpets and curtains in which their dander may settle.
I hope this helps and, if not, let me know so we can consider some other tips for managing allergy symptoms like a runny nose!
