Walnuts contain quite a bit of histamine when compared to other varieties of nuts. Histamine is the chemical released by your body when it comes into contact with the likes of pollen or animal dander. Therefore, if you suffer from allergic rhinitis it may be best to choose from other varieties of nuts such as pecans, macadamias and hazelnuts rather than snacking on walnuts but you needn’t avoid this food group altogether!
