Come onto your elbows and toes (like a press-up but with your elbows and forearms on the ground). Make sure your elbows are directly under your shoulders, and that your hips and elbows are in a straight line. Don’t arch your back and avoid tensing your neck muscles.
Hold this position for 45 seconds. Repeat three times. Rest for 30 seconds in between each plank.
The plank is an infamous exercise: it mainly works your abdominal and back muscles, but you’ll also feel tension in your arms, glutes and legs. It’s a great all-over exercise for toning and strengthening. Just be careful not to overdo it as we don't want you injuring yourself!
