PMS support - advice from a nutritionist

@emmatalksnutrition

PMS support – advice from a nutritionist ? I wholeheartedly believe that diet should be the absolute priority if we’re trying to correct hormone imbalance (or most other symptoms, for that matter), but sometimes, a supplement can go a long way – especially when it’s an ingredient like fermented soy, which we may struggle to get our diets, naturally, or in the required amounts to make a significant difference. ? Some other supplements are a must for female health in my opinion too, such as vitamin D and some extra magnesium (even over and above the amount in PMS phytoestrogen), aim to take a total of 200-400mg of magnesium ☀️? If anyone needs any further advice around supplements for PMS, please don’t hesitate to comment or DM me x✨

Is diet still a priority?

I wholeheartedly believe that diet should be the absolute priority if we’re trying to correct hormone imbalance (or most other symptoms, for that matter). A whole food diet, right in variety, colour and healthy fats is anti-inflammatory and directly encourages a wider diversity of gut bacteria, which translates into better outcomes for those with PMS, and again, many other areas of health too.

But can we go above and beyond diet?

In my opinion as a nutritionist, we can absolutely amplify the benefits of a healthy diet, with the help of some good quality supplements. As often, supplement can go a really long way. Especially, when it’s an ingredient like fermented soy, which we may struggle to get our diets, naturally, or in the required amounts to make a significant difference.

Some other supplements are a must for female health in my opinion too, such as vitamin D and some extra magnesium (even over and above the amount in PMS phytoestrogen), aim to take a total of 200-400mg of magnesium.
